Local Composting Programs

1. To find information on our TeleClasses, look here.

2. To find links to composting classes and programs in your local area, go to our Netlinks page and choose the category Compost Education: Local Programs. Classes are listed by COUNTRY - STATE OR REGION - CITY in alphabetical order.

We link directly to web pages of local composting programs on the NetLinks page. Since they will likely keep their own sites up-to-date, these direct links will provide our site visitors with accurate information. If that program wishes to provide their name, phone, email, etc. on our NetLinks page, they may include that as well.

Thank you.

Adding or Changing the Link Listing to Your Non-Profit Program

If you have a non-profit organization that offers Master Composter programs, home composting classes or programs, or demonstration area, there is no charge for being listed. Simply go to the Netlinks page and choose Add a Link. Enter your information. Choose Compost Education: Local Programs as the category. Title is listed as COUNTRY - STATE OR REGION - CITY. If you serve a larger area, simply do not specify the city and/or region. The description is the name of your organization, but you may also include a contact name, phone number, email, demo site address, or program/class description. Whatever information you include, please remember to come back and submit a changed record if the information changes.

Please link directly to your compost pages, not to the home page of your entire organization. If we click your link and the compost information is not immediately evident, we will refuse to accept your link. We are not trying to publicize your city's web site, we are trying to link people up directly to the composting program information on that site. Thank you.

If your organization already has a link and the information needs to be changed, just add another link, including the words "CHANGE REQUEST" in all caps at the beginning of the description.

If your link ceases to work, we will delete it from the NetLinks. So if your web address changes, please remember to send in an update.

The request form asks for an email address. If you don't put in a valid email address, your listing will be rejected because there is no contact email. The email address you enter when you request to add a link is kept in the link software, it is not added to our email program or email list. We may contact you if we have a problem with the listing, or if there is a specific reason. (For instance, sometimes site visitors ask us about composting in a specific geographic area and we need to get location-specific information. Or if there is something with the web site that program directors need to be aware of, like when the Local Programs format changed.) But there is no automated way to get the emails out of the links software into any other program. So don't expect (or worry about) your email to be added to our Notification List or Subscriber List. We don't give away or sell our email lists anyway but, as explained, this particular email won't even go on an email list. Thank you.

We reserve the right to refuse to accept or to cancel any link for any reason, without notice, based solely on our own discretion. (This is rarely the case for legitimate non-profits that offer compost training, but we have to have the right if we need to for some reason.)

Adding or Changing the Link to Your For-Profit Program

There was a time that we refused to accept for-profit trainers, speakers, or training programs in the Local Programs section. Unfortunately, when the US (and other parts of the world) economy changed in 2000-2001, many government composting programs were curtailed. As a result, some communities rely on for-profit entities to train their citizens and have asked us to accept these listings.

Our site visitors depend on us to point them in the right direction for compost training and we take this section of our site seriously. Please do not apply for a listing if home composting training is a minor or infrequent part of your business. Instead, request a link in the Traded Links section. We reserve the right to refuse to accept any link for any reason, without notice, based solely on our own discretion.

If you have a for-profit business that offers Master Composter programs, home composting classes, home compost training, home compost programs, or compost demonstration area, there is an annual US$100 charge for being listed. First, go to the Netlinks page and choose Add a Link. Enter your information. Choose Compost Education: Local Programs as the category. Title is listed as COUNTRY - STATE OR REGION - CITY. If you serve a larger area, simply do not specify the city and/or region. The description is the name of your organization, plus compost training services offered, maximum 75 words. Begin the description with the words "FOR PROFIT REQUEST" (do not count these words in the 75-word limit, they will be deleted if your link is put online). Don't put any exaggerated claims such as "Best", "Most Popular", "Only Compost Instructor in the State", etc. Just describe your services.

We may require additional information from you to determine if it is appropriate to list you in this section. We will notify you when your link has been accepted or rejected. If accepted, we will direct you to the page on our site where you may pay the fee through PayPal.

If your organization already has a link and the information needs to be changed, add another link, including the words "CHANGE REQUEST" in all caps at the beginning of the description.

If your web address changes, please remember to send in an update.

The request form asks for an email address. Please give the email address of the person who should be notified if there is a problem with the link. This does not have to be the same email address that was used to make payment. This email address is kept in the link software, connected to the link rather than in the advertising database, although we may make a note of it in your advertising file for our records. Thank you.
